Due to not feeling the best lately, I’ve decided that I’m going to hold off on continuing SOTS: The Pit, as I feel that the quality of my videos would likely suffer worse than they already had if I attempted to do them, given the current state of my health. Additionally, I’m playing it by ear with regards to Planescape: Torment EE, seeing as that’s just over a week off, but still I can’t 100% commit to the date I originally set. However, it will be the next game I tackle (still keeping SOTS: The Pit on hold), as I want to try a different genre of game, to see if that helps me with things. Going back to the state of my health though, it’s why I took the hiatus in the first place, because I felt that I would not be able to hit close to the standards I set myself for doing LPs, even taking into account that I am technically still a beginner at it. I am hoping though that once things settle a bit for me, I’ll be able to get back into LPing again, although for the time being, I can’t actually be sure when exactly I’d be starting that.
Even though I can’t actually do any ongoing series at present, I will at least attempt to do some of my preview videos, although I do want to tighten up the recording a bit where I can, although I think that 30-35 minutes is an appropriate length for those sorts of videos, given their nature. As far as things go, I’ll record (and publish) the videos on a somewhat consistent basis, meaning I’ll make sure that the videos will be on specific days of the week, and at a specific time slot, most likely occurring before any of my LP slots. That said however, I will be announcing the uploads at relatively short notice, at least till I get into a proper routine. I don’t plan to disappear anytime soon, but my YouTube output will be lower than I initially planned for the next while at least. I will attempt a monthly update video, though I will also try to keep it on a specific day and time, though ideally it will be the first day of that month. The video will consist of me talking about the past month, plus the current month leading up to when I record, as well as any other important updates related to previous monthly videos.
I can’t recall if I was supposed to start this month or next, but I will attempt to do a video for April at the start of May if possible, though I’m hoping that I will be able to start doing May’s one (at the start of June), though we’ll see what happens.
In any case, I apologise for the lack of video content, but I really want to make sure that I’d be able to adhere to a consistent standard, one I’d feel I’d be unable to keep at this time. That said of course, it’s important for me to keep my health at the forefront of everything, even if that means that I have to put things on hold.
There’s no doubt that I’ll eventually get around to doing them, as I want to do them, but it’s just that I may not have the energy to carry them out right now, as doing videos (or streams for that matter) can take a lot of energy out of you, especially ongoing series. I will still be posting blog updates, and I’ll be on Twitter, and keeping an eye on the social media stuff overall, as well as keeping up to date with the games industry, and also playing games where I can, both to practice for LPs, and also to get back into the habit of playing games again, because my ability to play them like I used to has kind of been diminished somewhat, due to things that have happened over the past few years, which probably also affects my ability to do LPs as well, seeing as I feel that I was better able to LPs back in 2014, even if I was just starting back then.
Besides that though, I’ve finally started taking a step forward with my PC, in that I’ve decided to go along with my original plan, even if I’m now in a better position to afford upgrades. The reasoning behind this is that because of my ability to afford things, I have to think harder about my next (and proper) upgrade, especially given how the landscape has changed even over the past few weeks. This interim upgrade will give me some benefits such as lower power consumption (reducing my power bills, and therefore saving money, as well as strain on the PSU), double the RAM (again with lower power consumption, but also increased performance), better performance overall (due to using a newer chipset), which will mean that I’ll be able to record videos with higher visual quality, and also have a more capable machine for video editing.
That said though, when I think about it, it’s probably just as well I’m doing this upgrade, because Planescape: Torment EE will look better as a result, seeing as I’ll be using higher resolutions; I may not be able to do 1080p, but I may be able to see if I can push it past 720p, although that said, my monitor is a bit of a bottleneck, so realistically I can only record up to 1600×1050 anyway, so that’s another upgrade that will be required, heh.
Other than that though, I do have a PS4 with PSVR now, so I’ll also be able to do PS4 LPs (once I get the right recording gear) and streams (once I’m ready), and I’ll also be able to do them for the PS3, and eventually Dreamcast (once I have the right hardware). I will also try to get a capture/recording device for the other consoles I have, so I can eventually do stuff on those as well. In any case, as it stands, I should at least be able to stream on my PS4 down the line, and perhaps doing the odd clip every now and again too, though I first need to see how that works. I addition to all that as well, I’ll eventually be able to do some LPs/streams with UberFate and TheShatner, after I’ve ensured that I have the same games as they do to facilitate that; it’ll be most likely streams starting off though, as LPs need more forethought and planning.
Anyway, I’m going to stop it here, as that’s pretty much all I have to say for now. I will eventually get back into LPing again, and I will eventually start doing streaming too, but for now my hiatus is still in effect; Planescape: Torment EE still has a possibility to appear, but I wouldn’t recommend holding your breath with regards to it. That said however, I will at least give an update on my hardware upgrades, as well as my current health situation, as those are important things to keep updated with, though the latter is the more important of the two.
So that’s it for now… if you want to have a chat with me, then feel free to tweet me, or comment on any of the posts that I make, as I’ll still be somewhat active on Twitter and social media, as that is a little easier to update.
In any case, I’ll catch you guys next time, and as always, watch this space for developments.
